Jim Gulick Named Director For Athletic Development

PHILADELPHIA - We are pleased to announce two appointments to important University positions.

James K. Gulick, '89 will become the Director of Athletic Development, a new position, and Trey P. Ulrich, '99 will succeed Jim Gulick as the Assistant Vice President for Alumni Relations.  Both appointments become effective November 1, 2011.

Jim Gulick has been an integral part of the Senior Advancement Team, serving as the Assistant Vice President for Alumni Relations since that position was created in June, 2001.  Jim very quickly established a creative working partnership with the Alumni Association Board of Directors, which resulted in significant achievements over the past 10 years.  Accomplishments during his tenure include the implementation of a new Alumni Association Governance structure, the creation of the alumni career services program, the introduction of a Bi-annual Volunteers Conference, new alumni communication vehicles and a steady increase in gifts from the Alumni Association in support of the University and responsive alumni programming.

As Director of Athletic Development, Jim will report both to the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation and to the Assistant Vice President for Development and will be responsible for achieving the fundraising goals of Athletics.  In concert with the Development program, he will plan, implement, and evaluate restricted giving for La Salle Athletics, serve as the Executive Director of the Explorer Club, participate as a member of the Athletic Department Senior Management Team as well as a member of the Senior Development Staff.

“We are delighted to announce that Jim Gulick will be joining us as the Director of Athletic Development,” said Tom Brennan, Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation, and Terry Travis, Assistant Vice President for Development, in a joint statement.  “This is a new position with responsibility for leading integrated and effective fundraising to support athletics.  Jim's background, experience and affinity for La Salle make him uniquely qualified for this role.”

As Assistant Vice President for Alumni Relations, Trey Ulrich will work closely with the Alumni Association Board to continue to advance the partnership between alumni and the University.  He will serve as the chief liaison between the University and Alumni Association Board of Directors.  Trey will be responsible for working with the Alumni Relations staff and the Alumni Board to develop and manage alumni relations programming that meets the present and emerging needs of over 45,000 La Salle alumni, one that is also in sync with the University's strategic direction.
