PISCATAWAY, N.J.- The La Salle women's soccer team fell 2-0 to the Rutgers Scarlet Knights in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday night at Yurcak Field.
The Scarlet Knights took a 1-0 lead in the 3
rd minute on Amanda DeVolk's third goal of the season. The redshirt junior sent the ball in from the near end line, curving it off La Salle goalkeeper

Rutgers tested Wiggins early and often, putting seven of their 11 shots in the first half on goal. The senior recorded a game-high nine saves against 17 shots from the Scarlet Knights.
RU's Stefanie Scholz added an insurance goal in the 54
th minute to go in front 2-0. The senior fielded a Madison Tiernan pass from the far side of the pitch and slipped the ball inside the far post for her seventh goal of the season.
The Explorers continued to fight in the second half, tallying five of their six shots following the break against RU keeper Casey Murphy.
La Salle's senior class retires after leading the Explorers to four straight NCAA Tournaments, three Atlantic 10 regular season championships, two A-10 Tournament championships and the most wins by a class (61) in program history.Â
