Brother John Kane Named President At Calvert Hall

BALTIMORE, Md. - Brother Dennis Malloy, FSC, Provincial of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, District of Eastern North America, in partnership with the Board of Trustees of Calvert Hall College, has appointed Brother John Kane, FSC as the President of Calvert Hall. Brother John is a 1980 graduate of La Salle University with a B.A. in Political Science. He earned an M.A. in Religious Education from La Salle and an Ed.D in Educational Leadership from Saint Joseph's University. He has nineteen years of teaching and administrative experience at Catholic secondary schools and fifteen years at La Salle University. He is on the Board of Trustees at Christian Brothers Academy in Lincroft, NJ and recently served on the Presidential Search Committee at La Salle University.

Kane has recently served 15 years in the La Salle athletic department, including the last eight as the Director of Academic Support for Student-Athletes. 
 
Brother John commented, "I am deeply honored by the appointment as President of Calvert Hall. I am grateful to Brother Dennis, Steve Budosh, and the Board of Trustees for placing their trust in me. Calvert Hall is a school steeped in tradition and deeply committed to its Lasallian mission and values. The excellent administration and faculty have enabled Calvert Hall to maintain its academic excellence and to respond to the educational needs of students in the 21st Century. I look forward to joining this vibrant community."
 
Mr. Bramble '66 has been elected Chair of the Board of Trustees. He is succeeding Mr. Stephen J. Budosh '75 who just completed his fifth year as Chair of the Board and his eleventh year as a Trustee. We want to thank Mr. Budosh for his tremendous contributions to The Hall and look forward to Mr. Bramble's continued leadership in his new role. Additionally, Archbishop William Lori has asked Mr. Bramble to take on additional key responsibilities within the Archdiocese of Baltimore.
 
Brother Dennis said, "Along with the entire Calvert Hall community, I am deeply grateful to Mr. Frank Bramble for his leadership, wisdom, person-centered attention, and clear direction of Calvert Hall as President. At the same time, I am excited by the appointment of Brother John Kane. The promise and energy of the strong complimentary relationship, which they have already begun to build, will ensure a bright future for Calvert Hall. Congratulations also to Mr. Stephen J. Budosh, Chair of the Board of Trustees, for his many years of service and leadership to Calvert Hall."
 
Brother John will begin his duties as President on July 14 and Mr. Bramble will become Chair of the Board on July 1.

La Salle Academics Did you know?

-Six student-athletes earned Academic and/or Scholar All-America recognition this year.

-13 were named to Academic All-Atlantic 10 teams, while seven were honored on the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area teams.

-Two more student-athletes received Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District honors.

-The La Salle women's volleyball team posted the top GPA by a women's team while the men's tennis and baseball teams had the highest GPA by a men's team during the fall semester.
 
-La Salle student-athletes also had higher GPAs than the student body as a whole.

-The Explorers graduation success rate (GSR) is higher than the Division I national average.

- 135 student-athletes earned Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll status in the fall for attaining at least a 3.5 GPA.
