Thomas Johnson established MAC records in the 200-yard individual medley in 1967, the 200-yard butterfly and 500-yard freestyle in 1968, and the 400-yard freestyle in 1969, when he won All-American honors. He also helped set the Explorers' 800-yard relay record in the 1968 NCAA College Division championships.
