PHILADELPHIA – Over 90 student-athletes participated in La Salle University's Commencement exercises on Sunday, May 17, at McCarthy Stadium. A total of 1,130 undergraduates from 27 states and eight countries earned degrees this weekend.

Senior lacrosse player Maddy Collins was the commencement speaker. She is the second straight student-athlete to deliver the commencement speech, following Emily Moran last year, and believed to be the second student-athlete in La Salle history to do so.

Seven student-athletes and two spirit team members were named the top student in their academic department.

Did you know?

-Three student-athletes earned four Academic and/or Scholar All-America awards this year.

-11 student-athletes were named to Academic All-Atlantic 10 teams.

- Five student-athletes were honored on the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area teams, including one All-Area Performer of the Year.

-Six student-athletes received Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District honors.

-The La Salle softball and volleyball teams posted the top GPA by a women's team while the baseball team had the highest GPA by a men's team during the fall semester.
 -La Salle student-athletes also had higher GPAs than the student body as a whole.

-The Explorers graduation success rate (GSR) is higher than the Division I national average.

- 128 student-athletes earned Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll status in the fall for attaining at least a 3.5 GPA.
