La Salle University, dedicated in the traditions of the Christian Brothers to excellence in teaching and to concern for both ultimate values and for the individual values of its students, is a private Roman Catholic university committed to providing a liberal education of both general and specialized studies.
Mission of Athletics
La Salle University is a Roman Catholic institution of higher education with traditions of the De La Salle Christian Brothers. In that framework, the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation of La Salle University is committed to both the spirit and principles set forth by The NCAA, The Atlantic 10 Conference, La Salle University and other entities with responsibility for the conduct of the program.
The Athletic Department, through its recreational, intramural and club sports programs, and through its intercollegiate programs enables and encourages all individuals to participate in a wide variety of sports at many levels of competition. Values such as leadership, diligence, determination, competition, teamwork and sportsmanship are emphasized. The importance of continuing and lifelong activity is also encouraged.
The University strives to operate its athletic programs within the confines of a fiscally sound plan at a level of intercollegiate competition that is consistent with its philosophical objectives. La Salle University seeks to join other institutions with like commitments to institutional integrity, academic and athletic excellence, and service to the community. La Salle University is dedicated to the fair and equitable treatment of all those associated with its programs. The University is also committed to sponsoring an Athletics Program that is well integrated with other University Programs and that provides its student-athletes with the opportunity to benefit from a well-rounded collegiate experience.
