BROOKLYN, N.Y. –
Jasmine Alston drained a career-high 18 points in front of a hometown crowd to propel the La Salle women's basketball team to its fourth straight win, a 62-49 victory over Towson in the LIU Turkey Classic finale at LIU Brooklyn.
Alston, who also tallied a career-high eight steals in Friday's Classic opener, was named to the All-Tournament Team. She added four against the Tigers today to average 6.0 for the weekend.

Alicia Cropper was also named to the LIU Turkey Classic All-Tournament team after averaging 11.0 ppg this weekend after returning from injury. Cropper scored 13 against the host Blackbirds yesterday and added nine points on 57.9 percent shooting today against Towson.
Micahya Owens added 10 points today for the Explorers, who improve to 4-2.
Towson's LaTorri Hines-Allen provided the majority of the offense for the Tigers, who drop to 1-3. She recorded a double-double of 29 points and 12 rebounds, with 11 of those points on 11-for-13 shooting from the free throw line.
After an early 4-3 deficit to the Tigers, the Explorers regained the lead on a
Siobhan Beslow bucket down low. They never relinquished the lead, though the Tigers cut it to one on a couple of occasions in the first half. With the Explorers edging the Tigers 19-18 with five minutes left in the first half, the Explorers went on a 12-1 run to close out the half including scoring the last 10 points of the period.
The Explorers led by as many as 18 at 46-28 with 13:17 on the clock, but Hines-Allen kept Towson in it almost single-handedly. She scored 20 of the Tigers' 30 second-half points, and went 6-for-7 at the free throw line down the stretch. She was unable to be a one-woman show, however, as the Tigers got no closer than within seven at 52-45 at the 5:39 point. The Explorers closed out the game on a 10-4 spurt for the final 62-49 score.
The Explorers shot over 40 percent once again today, finishing at 40.7 percent from the field. They struggled from long range, going just 3-for-13, but also fared well at the free throw line with an 11-for-13 clip. Alston led with a perfect 6-for-6 at the charity stripe.
The Explorer defense limited the Tigers to a 28.3 percent shooting clip from the field, and only 9.1 percent (1-for-11) from long range. The Tigers went 18-for-21 from the free throw line to keep the game within reach.
La Salle tied with Rhode Island with a 2-0 record at the Turkey Classic; however, the Rams took the title via a point differential tiebreaker. They outscored their two opponents by a combined 28 points to the Explorers' differential of 18 points.
The Explorers are back in action on Wednesday when they head to Robert Morris for a 7pm tipoff.
