South Orange, NJ - In their second match of the day at the Seton Hall Spikefest, the La Salle Explorers handed the Iona Gaels a 3-0 loss. With the win, the Explorers finished the day 2-0 and improved their record to 6-4, while the Gaels dropped to 5-4.
Senior Robyn Wright (Salem, OH/Salem) continues her strong offensive performance, with a team-high 16 kills on 31 attempts for a .419 hitting percentage. Lauren Woods (Akron, OH/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) tallied 13 kills for the Explorers. Wright and Woods matched stats in the blocking category, with each contributing a solo block and three assisted blocks.
Caitlin DeJong (Lansing, IL/Marian Catholic) dropped 12 kills on the Gaels in 25 attempts while committing just one error. Freshman setter Caitlin Conner (Willow Springs, IL/Lyons Township) assisted on 42 La Salle kills.
On defense, junior Amanda Woods (Cincinnati, OH/McNicholas) led on players with 29 digs, while freshman Carolyn Judge (West Chester, PA/Bishop Shanahan) added 11 in the Explorer win.
Iona's Colleen Walker topped all players with 18 kills, while Miki Hogg was the only other Gael to post double-digit kills with 12.
On defense for the Gaels, Katie Jellison topped the stats with 22 digs and Walker added 11.
The Explorers will return to action at the Spikefest on Sunday when they take on Cornell and host Seton Hall.
