Hamilton, NY - The La Salle Explorers were looking to add some wins to their season total when they traveled to the Colgate Tournament in Hamilton, NY on Friday and Saturday. Cotterell Court proved unfriendly to La Salle, as they fell to Colgate 3-2 on Friday and were swept on Saturday against Canisius (3-0) and Princeton (3-0)
On Friday, La Salle was led by Kristin Kelsey with 16 kills. Four Explorers reached the double-digit kill mark. Lauren Woods put 14 kills in the books, while Robyn Wright and Caitlin DeJong had 13 and 11 kills respectively.
Wrigth, Woods, and setter Caitlin Conner roofed five Raider attacks apiece. Conner claimed 57 assists and 17 digs in the Explorers effort.
Woods led La Salle's defense with 20 digs. DeJong and Carolyn Judge tallied 13 digs each, while teammate Kara Branz follwed close behind with twelve.
Saturday - vs. Colgate
It was the senior Robyn Wright that marked the only Explorer to reach more than 10 kills. Wright tallied 11 kills on 21 attempts for a .429 hitting percentage, while on defense she recorded one solo block and one assisted block.
Lauren Woods was not far behind, with nine kills on 27 attempts and also posted one defensive solo block. Woods also led the way on aces with two and earned four digs on defense. Caitlin Conner earned 31 assists out of a total 40 La Salle kills in the match.
Amanda Woods led the team with 13 digs, while Carolyn Judge added 10.
Saturday - vs. Princeton
Junior Caitlin DeJong led the way on offense for the Explorers, dropping 13 kills on the Tigers and earned a .420 hitting percentage on 25 attempts with three errors.
On defense, Amanda Woods posted a match-high 24 digs, whiel Carolyn Judge added 11 of her own.
La Salle will return to action on the road at St. Francis (NY) on Wednesday, September 24th at 7:00 p.m.
