BRONX, NY (September 28, 2003) - The La Salle University women's soccer team was held scoreless for the third consecutive game and lost its Atlantic 10 Conference opener, 2-0, to Fordham.
The Rams opened the scoring when Corey Dunfey netted the ball into the top left corner of the goal from 19 yards out. The goal was scored in the 25th minute, and is only the fourth goal La Salle has allowed in the first half this season.
Fordham (5-3, 1-0) added its second goal just before the end of the game as Dunfey set up Sarah Hopkins from 10 yards out. Hopkins has now scored in four straight games.
Marisa Suarez recorded six saves for the Explorers in the loss, while facing 14 shots.
La Salle (0-6-1, 0-1) continue on the road with matches at St. Bonaventure, Friday, October 3 at 3 PM, and at Duquesne, Sunday, October 5 at 1 PM.
