La Salle Women Fall to Rams 73-63


Bronx, NY - The La Salle University Women's Basketball team dropped its second straight Atlantic 10 game falling to the Fordham University Rams 73-63. La Salle drops to 8-5 on the season 1-2 in the conference.

The Explorers came out strong and led for the first eight minutes of the game. There were then five different lead changes in the next two minutes until the Rams took the lead at the 10:09 mark and went into the locker room up 39-24.

La Salle came out slow giving up a lay-up followed by a three pointer to the Rams and found themselves down 20. La Salle then mounted a huge come back bringing the score to within four on a 29-15 run led by senior Kat Foley (Troy, NY/Averill Park) who scored ten of her 18 points in the 12 minute run.

Junior Meghan Wilkinson (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown) drained three threes in the second half during the Explorers run, she also finished the game with 18. Wilkinson was 7-11 from the field, and 4-6 from three point land. The 18 points by Foley and Wilkinson is a season high for both players.

Junior co-captain Jill Marano (Crofton, MD/Arundel) tallied six points in the game, she also recorded a career high three blocks, and dished out four assists. Freshman Crista Ricketts (Douglasville, PA/Daniel Boone) got in early foul trouble, and scored just five points. Junior Monica Garrido Sanz (Majadahonda, Madrid/Majadahonda) also added five points, she was second in rebounds with six.

Sophomore Davineia Payne (Bear, DE/Caravel Academy) and senior co-captain Ekaterina Markova (Sophia, Bulgaria/Vassil Levski) combined for six points.

Three different Rams scored in double digits for Fordham, they were led by Monica Mack. Mack was 7-17 scoring 20 points. Leading the Rams in rebounds was Stacey Price with 10.

The Explorers continue A 10 action as they travel to Richmond this Monday, January 12th for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off.
