Senior Stash Graham becomes the all-time leader in shutouts
PHILADELPHIA, PA - La Salle senior goalie Stash Graham (Tampa, FL/Jesuit) becomes the all-time leader in shutouts in Explorer men's soccer history recording his 19th career shut out today, Sunday, October 24, 2004 as La Salle defeated Massachusetts 2-0.
The Explorers improve to 8-6-1 overall and even their conference record at four, while the Minutemen fall to 7-7-2 overall and suffer their second loss in the conference, 4-2-2.
Massachusetts sophomore Ralph Pace received a red card with 8:19 left in the first half, and the Explorers played the remainder of the game man up. The first half was an evenly matched game with the teams going into the break scoreless.
La Salle junior Ryan Moseley (Nassau, Bahamas/Queens College) then scored the first goal of the game when fellow junior Dusan Vujovic's (Belgrade, Serbia & Montenegro/New Hope-Solebury(PA)) shot was blocked. Moseley was there for the rebound and fired a shot pass diving Massachusetts goalie Nick Billman.
The Explorers held on to the 1-0 lead until the 84th minute of the game when freshman Ryan Dougherty (Wilmington, DE/Salesianum) added to the lead for his fourth goal of the season. Moseley passed the ball from the left side of the net to Dougherty at midfield for the 2-0 lead.
Graham recorded ten saves in the shut out which made him the all-time leader in shutouts in La Salle University men's soccer history, with four on the season and 19 in his four seasons as an Explorer. His 91 saves on the season makes his career total 443, just 14 behind the leader at La Salle, Paul Centofanti (1986-89) with 457.
The Explorers finished their final game of the season at home and will travel to Ohio this weekend as they face Xavier on Friday at 7:00 pm and then go to Dayton for a 1:00 p.m. contest on Sunday.
