Philadelphia, PA - The La Salle University men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to the Duquesne University Dukes tonigh, Friday, October 8th in Pittsburgh. The Dukes scored the goal in the second half off a free kick.
The Dukes dominated play in the first half, outshooting the regionally ranked Explorers, 9-1 and leading in corner kicks, 5-1 but went into the lockeroom scoreless.
Play evened out in a spirited second half with La Salle having a couple early scoring chances before Duquesne senior Derek MacKenzie fired a direct kick into the corner of the net from 25 yards out in the 73rd minute to give the Dukes the only goal they would need.
Senior co-captain Stash Graham (Tampa, FL/Jesuit) stopped three shots in goal for the Explorers as they fall to 6-3-1 overall and 2-1 in the Atlantic 10 conference.
La Salle will continue conference action on the road as they travel to St. Bonaventure Sunday, October 10th for a 1:00 p.m. contest.
