Dayton, OH - On the road for an Atlantic 10 match again the league leading Dayton Flyers, the La Salle Explorer volleyball team found themselves coming up short in a 3-0 loss to the Flyers at the Frericks Center. The Explorers dropped the match by scores of 30-14, 30-17, 31-29.
The Explorers seemed to struggle in the three-game series, as Lauren Woods (Akron, OH/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy), Abby Means (Stevens, PA/Cocalico) and Samantha Takacs (Columbus, OH/Bishop Watterson) led La Salle on offense with just six kills each. Setter Amanda Woods (Cincinnati, OH/McNicholas) assisted on 25 of La Salle's 28 kills in the match.
On defense, senioir Caitlin DeJong (Lansing, IL/Marian Catholic) tied for a team-high seven digs along with Amanada Woods. At the net, junior Kara Branz (Streator, IL/Streator Township) continues her push to the top of the blocking category for La Salle, adding one solo and three assisted blocks to her credit.
Dayton's Faye Barhorst (Fort Loramie, OH/Fort Loramie), turned in a match-high performance of 19 kills to lead the Flyers offense, while adrienne Green led the way on defense with a match best 18 digs.
The La Salle volleyball team will continue on the road on Saturday evening when they visit th Xavier Musketeers at 7:00 p.m.
