Cincinnati, OH - In their final trip to Ohio this seaon, the La Salle Explorer volleyball team fell short in a 3-0 loss to the Xavier Musketeers on Saturday night. The Explorers drop to 8-22 overall and 1-10 in conference play, while the Musketeers improve to 16-9 overall and 10-2 in the Atlantic 10.
Senior Lauren Woods (Akron, OH/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) and junior Abby Means (Stevens, PA/Cocalico) led the Explorers on offense, landing nine kills each in the match. Sophomore Samantha Takacs (Columbus, OH/Bishop Watterson) helped the La Salle cause with seven kills. Cincinnati native Amanda Woods (Cincinnati, OH/McNicholas) played in her hometown for the final time, and added 32 assists to her career total.
On defense, sophomore Carolyn Judge (West Chester, PA/Bishop Shanahan) led the Explorers with nine digs.
Xavier's Kate Duchek led all players with 16 kills and Danielle Skrajewski also posted a match-high of 16 digs in the Musketeers' win.
The Explorers will close out the 2004 home season when they host Atlantic 10 opponent Temple at 7:00 pm at Tom Gola Arena. Check out the action as seniors Lauren Woods, Amanda Woods and Caitlin DeJong compete in their final home match.
