PHILADELPHIA, PA - La Salle University men's basketball coach Dr. John Giannini has announced additions of Andrew Lewis, Dexter Matthews, and Matt Smith as non-scholarship players for the 2004-05 season.

"This group of student-athletes is a great deal of help to our program at this time. With only nine scholarship players in practice they allow us to compete and prepare for the regular season. They are important additions and are greatly appreciated", said Coach Giannini.

Lewis is a 6'-1 freshman guard from Frenchtown, NJ who played his high school ball at Delaware Valley Regional High.

Matthews is also a 6'-1 freshman guard who is a native of Wilmington, DE and played his high school ball at Thomas McKean High.

Smith is in his senior year at La Salle. He is a 6'4 forward from New Rochelle, NY's Iona Prep.

The Explorers open their season on Saturday, November 20th when they host James Madison in a 6:05 PM tip at Tom Gola Arena. The game will be aired live on ESPN 920 (AM), WHAT 1340 (AM) and worldwide on-line at GoExplorers.com through Yahoo! Sports.
