Posted by: Marc Mullen

PHILADELPHIA, PA (February 7, 2004) - At the annual La Salle women's soccer team banquet last Sunday, four Explorers received post-season team honors.

La Salle named senior Krista Lee the Offensive Player of the Year after leading the team in goals with seven, including game-winners against Temple, Massachusetts, and Richmond. Lee ended her career with 25 goals (3rd all-time), 15 assists (fifth all-time), and 65 points (2nd all-time).

The Explorer Defensive Player of the Year was junior Shannon Plunkett. Starting all 17 games this season for La Salle and never missing a start in 54 career games, Plunkett anchored this year's defensive unit. Her efforts also earned her a spot on the Atlantic 10's Academic All-Conference Team for the second consecutive season.

Earning the La Salle's Rookie of the Year Award was freshman Shelby Reese. After coming off the bench in her first five games, Reese cracked the starting line-up and made 10 straight starts to end her season. She scored her first collegiate goal in a 3-1 loss at Xavier.

The Coaches Award, given to the player who exemplified commitment and dedication to the team was awarded to senior Liz Schmidt. The Co-Captain of the team scored a goal and had an assist in her final season at La Salle, and completed her career with eight goals and 10 assists.
