Posted by: Meaghann Schulte (215-951-1633)Philadelphia, PA - The La Salle University Baseball team ended its three game losgin streak with a 2-1 victory over the University of Pennsylvania, today, Tuesday, March 30th.
La Salle sophomore Harold Grant (Wrightstown, NJ/Notre Dame) tallied the win as he pitched in five and two thirds innings. Grant struck out three batters before being relieved by junior Matt Kirsch (West Chester, PA/Archbishop Carroll) who struck out two batters and senior Chris Hughes (Wallingford, PA/Strath Haven).
Senior tri-captain John Snyder (Lititz, PA/Manheim Township) scored both of the Explorers runs. Snyder was 1-2 from the plate. Juniors Phil Marino (Blackwood, NJ/Highland) and Ryan Parfit (Flourtown, PA/La Salle) were responsible for Snyder's two runs as they were each 1-4 from the plate and drove in one run.
Snyder, Parfit and sophomore Mike Essery (Havertown, PA/Cardinal O'Hara) all hit doubles in the victory. Essery was 2-3 from the plate.
La Salle improves to 13-7-1 on the season and will travel to Villanova University Wednesday, March 31st for a 3:00 p.m. contest, weather permitting.
