Explorers Go 11 Innings and End in 0-0 Tie With Wildcats

Philadelphia, PA - The Explorers competed in the first round of the Liberty Bell Classic and added their second tie of the season as the La Salle University baseball team tied the Villanova Wildcats 0-0. The game went 11 innings before it was called due to darkness today, Wednesday, March 31st at Villanova.

La Salle senior Bryan Harvey started on the mound for La Salle. Harvey pitched in five innings and struck out six batters. Harvey was relieved by junior Anthony Boscaglia (Vineland, NJ/Sacred Heart) who struck out three batters in just two and two thirds innings. Freshman Gerard Breslin (Havertown, PA/Haverford) came in to pitch in the final three and one third innings before the game was called.

The Explorers recorded five hits on the day. Sophomore George Hudock (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) and senior Scott Gehringer (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen) both had two hits for La Salle. The fifth hit came from senior tri-captain Jay Snyder (Milton, PA/Milton).

La Salle is now 13-7-2 on the season and will host the University of Rhode Island this weekend in a doubleheader on Saturday, April 3rd and a single game on Sunday, April fourth. Both days are set to start at noon.
