Posted by: Meaghann Schulte (215-951-1633)Philadelphia, PA - The La Salle baseball team remains winless in the Atlantic 10 conference after suffering two loses to the University of Rhode Island today, Saturday, April 3rd, 2004. The Explorers fell 8-2 in game one and 2-0 in game two.
La Salle sophomore George Hudock (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) hit a two run homer in the bottom of the fourth inning to give La Salle a 2-1 lead in game one. But the Rams went on to score four runs in the fifth and three runs in the sixth for the 8-2 victory.
Junior Anthony Boscaglia (Vineland, NJ/Sacred Heart) started on the mound in game one for the Explorers. He pitched in four and one third innings and struck-out three batters. He was relieved by five different Explorer hurlers including junior Ryan Parfit (Flourtown, PA/La Salle) who saw action in just his second game of the season on the mound. Parfit pitched one inning and struck out two batters.
La Salle senior Eric Ruhland (Philadelphia, PA/Father Judge) started on the mound in game two. He pitched in five inngs and struck out four batters. Ruhland was relieved by junior Matt Kirsch (West Chester, PA/Archbishop Carroll) and senior Chris Hughes (Wallingford, PA/Strath Haven).
La Salle is now 13-9-2 on the season and is scheduled to host the University of Rhode Island in game three of the series tomorrow, Sunday, April 4th 2004 for a noon game, weather permitting.
