St. Bonaventure, NY - The La Salle Explorers finished out the 2004 with a close loss to host St. Bonaventure Sunday afternoon at McGraw Jennings Field. The Explorers finish the season with a 3-13 overall record and 0-7 conference record, while the bonnie improved to 10-6 overall and 4-3 in Atlantic 10 conference play.

The Explorers started the game with back-to-back free poisition goals by leading scorer Kristen Davis (Folsom, PA/Ridley) at the 3:40 and 4:55 marks to give La Salle an early 2-0 lead. Junior Kate Henwood (Glen Mills, PA/Garnett Valley) also capitalized on a free position shot to extend the Explorers' lead to 3-0 with 21:49 left in the firt half.

St. Bonaventure's Sarah Swarthout stopped the Explorers' scoring run at three. Henwood answered after connecting on a pass from senior Tracy Guenther (Willow Grove, PA/Upper Moreland). St. Bonaventure then answered with a free position goal at the 15:17 mark by Kelly Chevez followed by a goal from Sarah Dressler assisted by Robin Mason to set the score at 4-3 in favor of the Explorers.

Davis netted her third goal of the contest on an unassisted play with 8:58 remaining before the Bonnies' Nicole Motondo scored on a free position shot followed by an unassisted goal with 44 seconds to play in the first half to tie the score before the intermission.

After the break, Davis got back into the scoring mode putting La Salle ahead 6-5 on another free position shot. At this point, the Bonnies pulled ahead, scoring the next four goals between the 31:14 and 37:16 mark of the game. Davis snapped the streak at four with 17:10 remaining to bring the Explorers closer at 9-7. Freshman Tiffany Grossi (Ridley Park, PA/Ridley) got La Salle to within one with 15:54 remaining as she took a pass from Davis to score for the Explorers.

St. Bonaventure's Dressler and Motondo each scored again to extend the Bonnie's lead to 11-8. Kristie O'Donnell (Gibbsboro, NJ/Eastern Regional) scored followed by Henwood scoring her third with 3:54 to again put the Explorers to within one at 11-10.

Chevez gave the Bonnies an insurance goal with 1:26 remaining, but the Explorers would battle back and try again, scoring on a Guenther goal with 31 seconds remaining. The Explorers lost the battle in the end 12-11 to finsih the 2004 season.
