La Salle lacrosse head coach Julie Weiss and the La Salle athletic department announce two additional signings for the 2005 season, bringing the total number of recruits to eight.
A native of Whiting, New Jersey, Kerri Murphy will join the Explorers on defense for the upcoming season. At Manchester Township High School, Murphy was namd the Scholar Athlete of the Year as a senior. During her career at Manchester Township, Murphy served as team captain and was a three-year varsity letterwinner.
A well-rounded student-athlete, Murphy also competed in soccer and swimming and showed her leadership abilities through her role as team captain. She earned Most Improved Player awards for her efforts. Academically Murphy is a member of the National Honor Society.
The next recruit, Erika Matthews hales from Newtown Square, Pennsylvania. An attacker, Matthews competed at the Country Day School of the Sacred Heart where she was a three-year varsity starter. Matthews also gained valuable lacrosse experience competing for the Phantastix club team.
In 2002, she was named the Best Attack Player of the Haverford Township Lacrosse League. Matthews was also a member of the bronze medal-winning team at the Keystone State Games. Matthews also competed in field hockey at the Country Day School of the Sacred Heart where she led the team in goals as a junior.
