Farrell Sets New Record in Explorers Victory Over Dragons

Philadelphia, PA - La Salle University's head men's soccer coach Pat Farrell became La Salle University's all-time winningest men's soccer coach today, Saturday, September 11, 2004 as the Explorers defeated Philadelphia Soccer Seven rival Drexel 4-0.

The Explorers played two men up for the majority of the second half after Drexel's goalie was ejected from the game being issued a red card and La Salle senior co-captain Kevin Coleman (Media, PA/Penncrest) connected on a penalty kick resulting from the red card.

Coleman is rewarded the game winner, but the Explorers did not stop there. Junior Ryan Moseley (Nassau, Bahamas/Queens College HS) scored his first of two goals at the 68 minute mark to put his team up 2-0. Junior Josh France (Wilmington, DE/Salesianum) fired a shot from about 35 yards out to tally the Explorers third goal of the game. Mesely then added his second goal of the game with about 11 minutes remaining.

La Salle held on and senior co-captain Stash Graham (Tamps, FL/Jesuit) tallied his first shut out of the season and 16th of his career. He is just two shutouts shy of tying the school record of 18 set by Mike Kogut (1980-1983).

The win was Farell's 141st victory as a head coach at La Salle, which surpasses Bill Wilkinson's ('69-'75, '77-'86) record of 140 career victories.

The Explorers improve to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the Philadelphia Soccer Seven. La Salle will return home and host Bucknell this Wednesday, September 15th at 4:00 p.m.
