Explorers Drop a 4-0 Decision To The Broncs

Lawrenceville, NJ - Looking for their third win of the season, the La Salle Explorer field hockey team traveled to Rider on Wednesday afternoon to take on the Broncs in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. The Broncs sent the Explorers home with a 4-0 shut out loss, which drops La Salle to 2-4 overall, while Rider improves to 5-1.

The Explorers managed just three shots for the game, compared to the Broncs 23, including 14 in the second half.

Rider's Christina Ang was an offensive threat to the Explorers, netting the first of her three goals in the contest at the 20:57 mark. With time running down in the first half, Ang found the cage again with 1:28 left after a scramble in front of the goal.

Despite launching just one shot in the second half, the Explorers managed to hold the Broncs scoreless for 27:50, before Meaghan Schweers put a third goal on the scoreboard for Rider with the help of Stephanie Walker.

With 4:45 left to play, Ang scored her hat trick off a pass from Katie Conlon to lift the Broncs over the Explorers 4-0.

Senior goalkeeper Colleen Bolger tallied 12 saves in 65 minutes in goal, while Sarah Kearney saw her first action of the season, for 4:45 of play.

The Explorers return to action at Hank DeVincent Field on Friday, September 17th when they host the Robert Morris Colonials at 4:00 pm.
