Lady Eagles Clip the Explorers 1-0

Philadelphia, PA - The Explorer field hockey team was looking to log back-to-back wins after the 6-0 victory over Robert Morris this past Friday. La Salle played host to a first year Division I team in the Lock Haven Lady Eagles. The Explorers fell short in a 1-0 overtime win for the Lady Eagles, extending Lock Haven's win record to 8-1, while La Salle slipped to 3-5 for the season.

The teams played steady, traveling the length of the field throughout the first half, but neither team could capitalize on shots. In the first half, the Explorers out shot the Lady Eagles 7-4.

After the break, Lock Haven seemed to control the ball in front on La Salle's cage for much of the half, however the Lady Eagles managed just four shots in the period. La Salle attempted just one shot in the second half.

Into the overtime period, La Salle gave up three penalty corners, allowing Lock Haven to spend much of the extra period in front on the Explorers cage. After a scramble in front of La Salle goalkeeper Colleen Bolger (Berlin, NJ/Eastern Regional), Lock Haven's Amanda Alderfer (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) took the rebound and passed it off to Samantha Stoyer (Lititz, PA/Manheim Township) who knocked in the game winner at the 79:09 mark of the contest.

The Explorers will return to action on Friday, September 24th when they host the Towson Tigers at Temple University for a noon start time.
