Moseley's OT Goal Gains Explorers First Victory

Philadelphia, PA . - The La Salle University men's soccer team recorded it's first win of the season defeating Delaware in the second round of the Virginia Commonwealth Tournament today, Sunday, September 05, 2004.

The Explorers were down 2-0 with just over 17 minutes left in regulation when junior Josh France (Wilmington, DE/Salesianum) headed a ball in from fellow junior Scott Golden (Tampa, FL/Jesuit) to put the Explorers down just one.

With La Salle down one freshman Mike Lehr (Carlisle, PA/Carlisle) took a shot and fellow freshman Ryan Dougherty (Wilmington, DE/Salesianum) knocked in the deflection to tie the score at two with about three minutes left.

The Explorers fended off the windy conditions and sent the game into overtime. The teams went scoreless throughout the first overtime period and into the second overtime period.

La Salle junior Ryan Moseley (Nassau, Bahamas/Queens College HS) took a shot from about 35 feet out from senior co-captain Kevin Coleman (Media, PA/Penncrest) for the Explorers first victory of the season.

The Explorers are now 1-1 overall and will have their home opener this Wednesday, September 8th as they take on the Villanova Wildcats.
