Posted by: Sue SennerKingston, RI - The La Salle men's swimming team finished in third place at the Rhode Island Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The Explorers tallied 331.50 points, finishing behind Massachusetts (399) and Dartmouth (337.50). Host Rhode Island finished in last place with just 213 points.
The Explorers were led by sophomore Karo Isajan (Aurora, CO/Smoky Hill) who tallied 24 points in the meet. Isajan claimed first place in the 3-meter diving event with 471.75 points, as well as in the 1-meter event with 278.70 points.
Freshman Grant Chin (La Canada, CA/La Canada) cotributed 30 points with his first place finish in the 400 individual medley, finishing in a time of 4:08.23. Chin added two second place finishes to his resume in the 200 breast (2:10.90) and the 200 individual medley (1:56.79).
The Explorers will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to North Jersey to take on the Seton Hall Pirates. The diving competition kicks off at 3:0 p.m., followed by the swim events at 5:00 p.m.
