Freshman diver Katie Gifford (Nazareth, PA/Souderton Area) swept the diving competition, both the 1-meter (225.62) and 3-meter (222.90) events to add 12 points to La Salle's totals.
Fellow classmate Melanie Charles (Diamond Vale, Diego Marton/Trinidad & Tobago) sprinted to gold in the 50 frein a time of 25.76. Charles also finished in third place behind Seton Hall's Haley Ottenbreit and La Salle's Mallory Kessler (Doylestown, PA/Bishop Shanahan) in the 200 backstroke.
In the 400 free relay, Charles swam the anchor leg of the first place team. Joining Charles across the finish first were Jamie Polek (Hanover, PA/Seton Keough), Courtney Lofgren (Lafayette Hill/Gwynedd Mercy), and Lauren Aleksinas (Philadelphia, PA/Nazareth Academy).
Also claiming a first place finish for the Explorers was senior Jessica Phillips (Collegeville, PA/Perkiomen Valley), who crossed the finish line in 2:29.60 to top the 200 breaststroke.
La Salle's next competition will take place Saturday, when the Explorers travel to the Bronx, NY to take on Fordham.
