Freshman Traci DePasquale netted her third of the season to open the scoring at Temple

Freshman Lauren Malizia recorded her third win of the year with the victory

AMBLER, PA - Sophomore Kristin Hextall scored a goal and added an assist to lift the La Salle University Women's Soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Temple Friday afternoon on a rain-soaked Ambler Field, as the Explorers get their first Atlantic 10 Conference win of the season.

Hextall (Voorhees, NJ/Bishop Eustace) connected with freshman Traci DePasquale (Forked River, NJ/Lacey Township) for the Explorers' first goal of the game in the 29th minute. It was DePasquale's third goal of the season and sophomore Jenna Guagenti (Atco, NJ/Paul VI) was also credited with an assist on the play.

Five minutes later, Hextall pushed the La Salle lead to 2-0, when she scored her team-tying fourth goal of the season, with assists by senior Erin McNulty (Palermo, NJ/Ocean City) and sophomore Michelle Verzi (Delran, NJ/Delran).

Temple (1-13-0, 0-5-0 A-10) cut its deficit to one with a goal just before the half, as Kaitlyn Gavaghen scored on a shot that Explorer goalie Lauren Malizia (Richmond, VA/The Steward School) appeared to have stopped.

The teams played scoreless soccer for the entire second half with neither team getting more than four shots on net.

Malizia recorded two saves to earn her third victory of the season, while Temple goalie Tiffany Kasunich registered nine saves in the loss.

La Salle (4-8-2, 1-2-1 A-10) will travel to Saint Joseph's this Sunday, October 14 with a start time of 12 PM.
