Kushman and Owen Tally Double-Doubles Against Xavier

Kushman led tied a match-high 20 digs and posted12 kills.

PHILADELPHIA, PA - The La Salle Explorer volleyball team made an impressive showing against the Xavier Musketeers Saturday evening at Tom Gola Arena, despite falling in three game.  The Explorers lost by scored of 31-29, 30-24, 30-25 and drop to 9-16 overall and 0-9 in conference play, while the Musketeers stand at 15-8 and rebound from a 3-2 loss to Temple on Friday to stand at 7-2 in the A-10.

Freshman Jackie Kushman posted a double-double for the second time this weekend, dropping 12 kills and 20 digs, including seven kills and six digs in the first game.  Sophomore Stephanie Owen also posted a double-double with a match-high 15 kills and 14 digs.  Setter Caitlin Conner tallied 43 assists on La Salle's 51 kills. 

At the net, Christa Dominick racked up four assisted blocks and contributed nine kills on offense.  Dominick hit a .444 for the match on nine kills, one error and 18 attempts.

Xavier's Astyn Bjorklund landed 14 kills and hit a .609, attempting 23 hits and committing no errors.  Kate Duchek also got on on Xavier's offense with 12 kills and Danielle Skrajewski added 10 for the Musketeer's win.

On defense, Skrajewksi tallied 18 digs, while libero Jordan Brightwell added 14.

The Explorers will be back in action on Tuesday night when they travel to Lehigh for a 7:00 p.m. match.
