However, Massachusetts scored the tying goal, then with less than two minutes left in the second overtime tallied the game-winner.
The Minutewomen (7-8-1, 4-3-0 A-10) kept their hopes of an Atlantic 10 Tournament berth alive with the victory, and the Explorers drop their fourth conference game by a 2-1 margin.
La Salle (4-11-2, 1-5-1 A-10) got on the board early in the first half when senior Alexis Petrucci made good on a penalty kick, which resulted when she was tripped up in the box. For Petrucci, it was her team-leading fifth goal of the season, her 16th of her career (7th on the all-time list) and is eighth in points in a career, now with 38.
The Explorers, up 1-0, still continued to pressure looking for an insurance goal, including a near miss by freshman Dana Giordano with under 14 minutes to play.
The missed opportunities came back to haunt La Salle, when with 15 seconds remaining in the game, Stephanie Barrett scored the equalizer on an assist from Adair Blyler. It appeared Barrett was offsides, but without the call, she was all alone and beat Explorer goalie Amy Grant.
Barrett would figure in on the game-winner as well, serving a ball to Britt Canfield, who put it in the back of the net.
La Salle will finish its season on the road, playing at Duquesne, Friday and then at Saint Louis, next Sunday.
