Posted by: Sue SennerBETHLEHEM, PA - The La Salle Explorer volleyball headed to the Lehigh Valley on Tuesday evening to take on the Lehigh Mountainhawks at Leeman-Turner Arena in their second to last non-conference match of the 2005 season. In the end, the Explorers walked away with a 3-1 loss to the Mountainhawks and now stand at 9-17 for the season. Lehigh improve to 6-17 after scored of 30-19, 30-27, 25-30 and 30-25).
Sophomore Stephanie Owen posted her 12th double-double of the season with 11 kills and 13 digs in four games. Freshman Jackie Kushman led the Explorer offense with 13 kills and missed a double-double by just one dig at nine. Setter Caitlin Conner assisted on 39 La Salle kills and tallied 14 digs on defense.
Libero Carolyn Judge continues her strong showing on defense with a match-high 18 digs.
Also on defense, at the net, the Explorers racked up 14 blocks, with freshman Christa Dominick leading the team with two solo and five assisted blocks. Senior Kara Branz wasn't far behind with one solo block and five assisted. Dominick also helped out on offense, landing seven kills in the match.
Up next for the Explorers will be the Charlotte 49ers on Friday, October 28th at 7:00 p.m. This will make the first trip to Tom Gola Arena for the 49ers, a new addition to the Atlantic 10 conference this season.
