Amy Grant had 10 saves as she recorded her first shutout

PITTSBURGH, PA - The La Salle University Women's Soccer team defeated host Duquesne, 1-0, Friday night in an Atlantic 10 bout on Rooney Field, the first loss for the Dukes on their home field this season.

The Dukes (9-5-1, 4-4-0 A-10) and Explorers battled to a scoreless tie through the first half. It remained that way, despite both teams near-goal attempts.

Duquesne's Audra Mathews' header almost put the Dukes on the board in the 48th minute, but it ricocheted off the cross bar into the end zone. La Salle's Heather Barclay answered with a near goal, but the Dukes' goalkeeper Ginny Bondi stopped the power shot to keep the match scoreless until the 70:10 mark.

Junior Lisa Genna collected a ball off a rebound and found the back of the net. It was her second goal of the season, fourth of her career.

Freshman goalkeeper Amy Grant earned her first collegiate shutout in the victory, while making 10 saves including a pair in the 82nd minute as Duquesne sought an equalizer.

La Salle (5-11-2, 2-5-1 A-10) will conclude the season with a game at Saint Louis, Sunday starting at 2 PM.
