Posted by: Sue SennerBRONX, NY - Coming off a 3-0 sweep of Fairleigh Dickinson just 48 hours ago, the Explorers were looking for their second straight win at Fordham's Rose Hill Gym Friday night. Instead, the Explorers found themselves coming short as the Rams finished the match in three straight games, by scored of 30-23, 30-27, 30-24. Fordham now stands at 13-7 and 2-2, while the explorers slide to 7-12 and 0-6 in the A-10.
The Explorers' Kara Branz knocked down 12 kills and sophomore Stephanie Owen added eight to pace La Salle's offense. Setter Caitlin Conner tallied 30 assists in teh match.
On the defensive end, Conner contributed 10 digs but could not match libero Carolyn Judge's 17 digs in the three games. Owen also assisted on defense with 11 digs.
La Salle's recorded 12 team blocks, including Christa Dominick's one solo and five assisted blocks..
For Fordham, Jamee Stimson had a match-high 15 kills to go with three digs and two aces, while Marija Markovic added nine kills, six digs, and three aces. Tasha Johnston had eight kills and 10 digs, with Kealia Ieremia dishing out 37 assists to go with nine digs and four kills.
The Explorers will continue on the road this weekend, as they visit the Rhode Island Rams on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
