Posted by: Sue SennerPHILADELPHIA, PA - Coming off a huge victory over the Saint Joseph's Hawks just 48 hours ago, the La Salle Explorer field hockey team was looking to make it two in-a-row when they paid a visit the to the Temple Owls on Sunday at Geasey Field.  Despite forcing in overtime, the Explorers fell to the Owls 2-1 and now stand at 3-11 overall and 1-1 in the Atlantic 10.

After playing scoreless for more than 31 minutes, the Owls' Leanne Vogelsong netted her first collegiate goal to break the drought and put Temple on the board at 1-0.  Vogelsong found the back of the cage after Rachel Barber's unmarked fast break turned into a scramble in front.  Jen Adamek, was credited with an assist after a tipped rebound found Vogelsong's stick.

After going the entire first half without recording a shot on Owls' goalkeeper Erin Hanshue, the Explorers responded with four shots and one penalty corner that didn't come until the game clock read zero.  The penalty corner, whistled with less than two ticks left in the second half, resulted in an Emily Simone goal that forced overtime.

This overtime period marked the second in as many games for the Explorers, while it marked the first for the Owls for the season.  Temple's Alli Lokey, whose knocked in the game-winning goal after penetrating La Salle's defense and found herself point blank in front of LaSalle goalkeeper Ellen Axelsen 3:52 into the overtime.

Axelsen stopped three shots for the Explorers while senior Amy Dalrymple recorded a defensive save.

Temple defender Katie Stevenson recorded two defensive saves in the winning effort while Hanshue turned away three LaSalle shots.
