On Saturday, November 5th La Salle freshman linebacker Preston Plevretes sustained a devasting hit while covering a punt toward the end of the Explorers game at Duquesne. The hit caused a substantial brain injury which produced swelling and bleeding that required surgery to alleviate.
It was later discovered that during the time between suffering the hit and being rushed to the hospital in Pittsburgh he also suffered a stroke.
Preston remains hospitalized at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh and shows slow signs of improvement.

Our prayers are that Preston takes his drive and determination and uses it to battle back from this injury. May God give him and his family the strength to join together in this time of need. Our prayers also include the entire LaSalle family which has been touched by this event. We have sent word to all the prayer warriors we know to include Preston in their prayers. May God who is the Great Physician put His hand on Preston and work a miracle.

We want to wish Preston and the entire Plevretes family all of our best, our hopes and our prayers for a speedy recovery. If there is anything we can do; we would be more than happy to. We have been down a similar road in our family. We know the fear and the pain. But we also know the hope and the faith. Preston will "tough it out". All of you will be the stronger for this (I am sure you already know that). We are all thinking of you (thought you should know that as well).

The Christian Brothers at La Salle continue to pray for Preston's complete recovery, and our prayers go out to his family and friends. I had the pleasure of having Preston in class for two semesters last year and thoroughly enjoyed his effervescence and upbeat spirit. I know his character and determination will enable him, with God's help, to overcome this tragic injury. God bless you,
Brother Dave Rogers

As one of three daughters of Coach Petitte I would like to send my sincere heartfelt prayers and faith with Preston's family, team, and friends.
I have watched my father for 28 years put his whole huge heart into his players as the sons he does not have, each one of them. Preston is one great son to my dad and defensive player , he will use his skills off the field now and show us! Preston's injury has touched and reached so many people and made so many cherish each other more and open there eyes. Pleveretes family please remember that faith can move mountains, so many people have newly developed faith or stronger faith because of Preston. He is strong and will be stronger, he is lifting his weights internally right now and will show us. Go # 45!

Preston,
You are in my thoughts every single second I have in a day. I miss my
phones calls every Sunday after a game. I keep my cell phone close to me
because I know I will recieve a call from you very soon. They say, one of
the greatest thing about coaching is how coaches impact many young athletes
lives. But in this case, Preston, as a former athlete of mine, inspired my
life tremedously in many different ways. Preston, keep fighting. We all miss
you and love you.
Love your Coach,
