Polek, Caldwell, Gifford and Kessler Finish First in Loss at Penn

PHILADELPHIA, PA - The La Salle University women's swimming and diving team fell to the host Penn Quakers on Tuesday evening by a score of 137-94.  The Explorers now stand at 2-6 for the season.

Diver Katie Gifford swept the diving events, scoring 297.98 in the 1-meter event and 257.47 in the 3-meter event to give La Salle 18 points in the meet.

Jamie Polek chipped in 13 points with a first place finish in the 500 free with a time of 4:10.99 and a second place finish inthe 1650 free with a time of 17:48.06.

Freshman Carleen Caldwell continues her steady performance, turning in a first place finish in the 200 free with a time of 1:58.29 and a second place finish in the 100 free event.

It was Carrie Houck who contributed four points after a second place finish in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:01.40.

The Explorers claimed first and second place in the 100 breaststroke with Mallory Kessler crossing first in a time of 1:14.42 followed by Kathryn Hartman in second with a time of 1:15.31.

The Explorers will be back in action on Friday, December 2nd when they travel to Rutgers to compete in the Rutgers Invitational.
