Explorers Tamed By Penn State

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA - The La Salle Explorers men's swimming and diving team fell prey to the Penn State Nittany Lions on Friday afternoon by a score of 143-91.  The Explorers now stand at 2-2 for the season.

Junior Sean Connors-McBride tallied La Salle's only nine point performance in the 200 butterfly.  Connors-McBride captured the top spot in a time of 1:52.71.  Teammate Eli Field crossed second with a time of 2:03.82 and Reed Inglee took third at 2:05.79.  Penn State's swimmers swam as an exhibition race.

In the 100 freestyle, John Welsh finished in a time of 49.35 to earn a second place finish.  Teammates Ryan Martinnetti took third place at 50.37 and Chris Cefalo finished in fourth at 51.01.

It was Grant Chin who put four points on the scoreboard for La Salle in the 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:13.67 which was just behind Penn State's Josh Graham who earned the top honors with a time of 2:11.89.  La Salle's David Ellerson finished third (2:20.15) and Tom Smyth took fourth at (2:24.81).

La Salle will be back in action on Saturday, November 5th when they compete at the Bucknell Sprints.
