Posted by: Sue SennerPHILADELPHIA, PA - The La Salle Explorer women's swimming team captured a 105-82 victory over C.W. Post at Kirk Pool on Friday afternoon.
Jamie Polek swam to a first place finish in the 1000 free with a time of 10:44.40 and teammate Jacklyn Kubala earned a second place finish at 11:12.30. Polek claimed her second first place finish in the 500 free, where the Explorers took the top three spots. Polek crossed the finish line with a time of 5:17.51, followed by Carrie Houck with a time of 5:28.17 and then Ashley Young 5:31.42.
After her second place finish in the 500 free, Houck took the top honors in the 200 butterfly. In the 200 backstroke, Melanie Charles earned the gold for the Explorers finishing in a time of 2:16.70.
Carleen Caldwell posted 18 points in the Explorers win, with first place finishes in the 200 yard freestyle (1:58.86) and the 100 freestyle (55.11).
Divers Tanya Lindenmuth and Katie Gifford competed in exhibition trials in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events.
In the 400 medley relay, the Explorers took first place with a time of 4:22.79.
The Explorers will rest up over night and compete in the Bucknell Sprints in an all day event on Saturday.
