Jersey City, NJ - The La Salle University men's tennis team opened the 2005 spring season with a 6-1 over host St. Peter's on Saturday afternoon.

The Explorers saw the return of senior Ron Gargullo (Philadelphia, PA/Chestnut Hill Academy) who handed St. Peter's Cprime Realista (Jersey City, NJ/County Prep) a 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 loss at the number one singles position.

La Salle also got singles wins in the numers 3-6 positions from freshman Blake Williams (Havertown, PA/DelCo Christian), Erick Glick (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North), Scott Karwowski (Toms River, NJ/Monsignor Donovan) and Ross Flockerzie (Greenfield, MA/Pioneer Valley Regional).

The Explorers also earned the doubles point with a #2 position victory from Jeff Plegaria (Sewell, NJ/Washington Township) and Flockerzie who claimed an 8-4 victory over Jon Pimentel (Brick, NJ/Brick Memorial) and Alex Purdie (Jersey City, NJ/County Prep). Gargullo and Glick won the #3 position by default.

The team will have over a month off until their next competition when they host the New Jersey Institute of Technology on March 16, 2005 at 2:30 p.m.
