Victory at Rhody! Explorers top Rhode Island, 73-63

Kingston, RI - The La Salle University men's basketball team shot a blazing 52% from the field and 48% from beyond the arc to record their first ever victory at Rhode Island, 73-63, at the Ryan Center.  With the win, the Explorers have now recorded their most Atlantic 10 road victories in the history of the program.

The squad picked up their second consecutive road victory despite having to play with 4 guards for the final 12 minutes of the game.  Steven Smith (Philadelphia, PA/Northeast) recorded another double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds in his usual 40 minutes of action.

They also received a strong performance from Jermaine Thomas (Frederick, MD/Thomas Johnson), who poured in 18 points despite playing with a torn ligament in his left ring finger.

The freshman duo of Tabby Cunningham (Philadelphia, PA/St. John Neuman) and Darnell Harris (Baltimore, MD/St. Francis) also played well, scoring 15 and 12 points, respectively.  More importantly, they showed the composure and confidence that is needed at the guard position to win in the Atlantic 10.

Thanks in large part to their efforts, La Salle turned the ball over just 7 times.
