Boca Raton, FL - Boston College scored seven unearned runs as the La Salle University baseball squad dropped its tenth game of the season, 7-4 to the Eagles in the Explorers final game of their Florida trip.
Senior Anthony Boscaglia (Vineland, NJ/Sacred Heart) started on the mound for the Explorers. He pitched into the third inning and gave up no earned runs as he struck out two batters. Boscaglia was relieved by sophomore Gerard Breslin (Havertown, PA/Haverfords). Breslin pitched over four innings of scoreless relief as the La Salle pitching staff gave up no earned runs.
La Salle saw four different players score runs in senior Ryan Parfit (Flourtown, PA/La Salle), junior Mike Essery (Havertown, PA/Cardinal O'Hara) and freshmen Dennis Burge ((Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks West) and John Rickards (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks West).
Parfit went 2-5 from the plate, one of his two hits was a double. Burge also had a double as he along with Rickards went 1-3 from the plate. Sophomore Billy Kern (Northfield, NJ/Mainland) had two hits on four attempts in the loss.
The Explorers were supposed to play Siena in their home opener tomorrow, Friday, March 11th at 2:30 p.m., but the game is pending due to inclement weather and field conditions.
