Kissimmee, FL - Red-hot shortstop Vinnie Caputo (Saratoga Springs, NY/Saratoga Springs) hit a walk-off homerun in the bottom of the seventh inning as the La Salle University softball team beat Loyola Chicago, 2-1, for their first victory of the season.
Caputo has been on a tear since the team left for the Rebel Spring Games. She was 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI in a close loss to Monmouth, and was 2-for-3 with a pair of singles against Yale.
Also starring against Loyola Chicago was pitcher Kassandra Keating (Fair Oaks, CA/Bella Vista), who went the distance for a complete game, only allowing one run.
In the early game, the Explorers were shutout by Holy Cross, 8-0.
They are now 1-7 on the season, and will conclude their trip to the Rebel Spring Games when they take on Detroit Mercy at 4:00 P.M. and Robert Morris at 6:00 P.M.. Complete box scores will be posted when they become available.
