Pittsburgh, PA - La Salle senior Phil Marino (Blackwood, NJ/Highland) scored fellow senior Ryan Parfit (Flourtown, PA/La Salle) in the top of the tenth inning to give the Explorers their second conference win of the season defeating Duquesne 17-15 in 10 innings.
The Explorers took a 15-6 lead by the bottom of the sixth inning, but the Duquesne Dukes rallied in the seventh inning scoring five runs leaving La Salle with a 15-11 lead heading into the ninth inning. The Dukes then scored four runs to tie the game up at 15, but the Explorers scored two tenth inning runs for the victory.
Senior Anthony Boscaglia (Vineland, NJ/Sacred Heart) started on the mound for the Explorers, but sophomore Gerard Breslin (Havertown, PA/Havertown) recorded the win after five different hurlers saw time on the mound. Junior Jared Ringer (Schnecksville, PA/Parkland) saw the most action on the mound as he pitched in close to five innings for head coach Lee Saverio.
La Salle had an impressive game offensively with five different players tallying three hits or more. Seniors Parfit and Marino both went 3-6 from the plate. Parfit scored four runs and drove one run in as Marino tallied five RBI and had two doubles. Sophomores Rich Prall (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks West) and Billy Kern (Northfield, NJ/Mainland) both had four hits in the win. Prall was 4-6 and drove in four runs while Kern drove in three on 4-7 from the plate. Freshman Grant Harm (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) was 3-6 with a homerun and two runs batted in.
The Explorers are now 3-12-0 overall and 2-1-0 in the conference, they will return home to host Monmouth on Tuesday, March 22nd at 3:00 p.m.
