Posted by: Sue SennerPHILADELPHIA, PA - For the second straight week, La Salle lacrosse freshman Emily Bonczek (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) was named as the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week.
The midfielder netted a team-best four goals in the Explorers first Atlantic 10 contest of the season against George Washington last Wednesday (3/15/).
Bonczek also assisted the Explorers in posting back-to-back wins over Villanova (3/18) and Virginia Tech (3/19). Despite Villanova posting a defender on her the entire game, Bonczek managed to drop three goals on the Wildcats in La Salle's 15-9 victory.
This past Sunday (3/20), against Virginia Tech, she landed two goals in the Explorers 9-8 victory.
For the week, Bonczek netted nine goals, and tallied eight bround balls, three caused turnovers and two draw controls.
Bonczek will be back in action with the rest of the Explorers this Wednesday, March 23rd when the team hosts Oregon at McCarthy Stadium.
