Posted by: Sue Senner

PHILADELPHIA, PA - The La Salle Explorer lacrosse team had a three game win streak snapped on Wednesday afternoon at Temple's Geasey Field.  The Explorers came up on the short end of a 14-5 loss to the Owls.  LaSalle falls to 5-4 overall and 0-2 in the Conference, while Temple improves to 4-2 overall and 1-0 in Atlantic 10 action.

Temple's Allison Frengs began the scoring early in the contest, netting the game's first goal off of a free position attempt with 26:46 remaining.  La Salle's Kate Henwood caught a feed from Tiffany Grossi for the LaSalle equalizer ten minutes later at 15:52.  The Explorers' Catie Borneman scored back-to-back goals within seconds of one another to put LaSalle up 3-1 at 11:46.

The Owls called a timeout to regroup and came out with an offensive attack that the Explorers seemed to have no answer for.  Temple went on to score 11 straight goals, taking a 14-3 lead before LaSalle was able to get a stop.  Frengs earned Temple's second tally at 9:42 to make it 3-2 LaSalle and Corey Leader made it a tie ball game with an unassisted goal at 8:33.  Sophomore Kelly Yemm gave TU the lead at 7:26 after cradling down from the midfield and firing a shot past LaSalle keeper Brittany Friedrich.  Frengs converted her second free position attempt at 6:30 and Casey Cech added a tally, assisted by Whitney Richards at 5:52.  Leader was fouled in the arc and scored the Owls' seventh goal at 2:44.  Patty Glavin added one more goal before the half was through, giving Temple a 8-3 lead at the break.

Johna Capaldo and Glavin teamed to score a goal three minutes into the second half, allowing the TU scoring barrage to continue.  Berkley Summerlin fed a cutting Leader for the Owls' 10th goal just one minute later.  Glavin scored one more at 22:42 and Frengs earned back to back tallies at 20:09 and 17:15 to give Temple a 13-3 lead and make it a running clock contest.  Leader and Summerlin scored TU's final goal at 15:43.  The Explorers finally ended Temple's rout with two goals but it was too late as Temple took the game 14-3.

The Explorers will look to get back in the win column when they travel to American on Sunday, April 3rd for a 1:00 p.m. game.
