Boca Raton, FL - With just one game left in their seven game Florida trip the Explorers are still looking for their first win after dropping a 10-2 decision to the Florida International Panthers.
The loss to the Panthers marks the fourth loss of the season to FIU and drops La Salle to 0-9 on the 2005 season. Junior Jarrod Ringer (Schnecksville, PA/Parkland) started on the mound for the Explorers. He pitched in five innings and struck out three batters.
Ringer was relieved by a string of hurlers including freshmen Jamie Cowan (Annandale, VA/Nishop Ireton) and Jamie DiPiero (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) as well as senior Matt Kirsch (West Chester, PA/Archbishop Carroll) and sophomores Jeremy Rosen (South Kingston, RI/South Kingston) and Gerard Breslin (Havertown, PA/Haverford). Breslin struck out two batters in just one inning.
La Salle junior Mike Essery (Havertown, PA/Cardinal O'Hara) scored one of just two runs as he went 1-4 from the plate. His one hit was a double. Scoring the other run for the Explorers was freshman John Rickards (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks West).
La Salle finished up action in Florida as they face Boston College for the second time at 10:00 am on Wednesday, March 9th.
