Two More Close Losses in Florida

Kissimmee, FL - The La Salle University softball team dropped a pair of 3-2 decisions yesterday, first to Wagner, and then to Monmouth in the night-cap at the Rebel Spring Games in Florida.  They have now lost their last four games by the slimmest possible margin - 4 runs.

In the Wagner game, the Explorers were sparked by freshman Carissa Segura (Santa Maria, CA/Ernest Righetti) who was 2-for-3 with a pair of singles.  La Salle jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the second, but the Seahawks manufactured a run in the bottom of the third to knot the score at 1-1.  Wagner pulled ahead for good in the fifth with a sacrifice fly and and RBI single.

Against Monmouth, sophomore centerfielder Katie Bongiovanni (Mancester, NJ/Manchester Twp.) was 2-for-3 and had an RBI.  Junior shortstop Vinnie Caputo (Saratoga Springs, NY/Saratoga Springs) also continued her strong early play, going 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI.

La Salle drops to 0-6 on the season.

The Explorers have the day off today, and will resume action tomorrow when they take on Holy Cross at 12:30 P.M. and Loyola at 6:30 P.M.. Complete box scores will be posted when they become available.
