Philadelphia, PA - Head Coach Lee Saverio and the La Salle University baseball team suffered an 11-1 loss to the Villanova Wildcats today, Wednesday, April 20th, 2005. The Explorers drop to 14-21 overall with the loss.
La Salle jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but the Wildcats had abuilt a 5-1 lead by the bottom of the seventh. The Wildcats then scored six runs in the eighth and took an 11-1 lead.
Sophomore Dan Waters (Wyndmoor, PA/La Salle) started on the mound for La Salle. He pitched in three inning before freshmen John DiPiero (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West), Jamie Cowan (Annandale, VA/Bishop Ireton) and Mike Caruso (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) came in at relief along with senior Anthony Boscaglia (Vineland, NJ/Sacred Heart) and sophomore Jeremy Rosen (South Kingston, RI/South Kingston).
La Salle sophomore Rich Prall (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks West) tallied three hits in the loss while senior Ryan Parfit (Flourtown, PA/La Salle) had two. Freshman Matt Dunaway (Little Rock, AR/Central Arkansas Christian) was 1-3 from the plate and scored the Explorers lone run of the game.
The Explorers jump back into Atlantic 10 action this weekend as they travel to Ohio to face Xavier in a doubleheader on Saturday, April 23rd and a single game on Sunday the 24th.
