Philadelphia, PA-The La Salle University softball team traveled to the University of Dayton this afternoon for an Atlantic 10 doubleheader. They lost the opener, 3-1, and the second game, 3-2, to fall to 2-8 in the conference.
The first game was scoreless until the bottom of the third when Dayton sophomore Tamsyn Kellough knocked a two-out single to right field to make it 2-0.
In the top of the fourth, sophomore Laura DeZolt (Morrisville, PA/Conwell Egan) hit a double down the left-field line to score Megan Berry (Rutherford, NJ/Paramus), which cut the deficit in half.
The Flyers added a run in the bottom of the fourth to complete the scoring. DeZolt was charged with the loss despite striking out seven over six innings. She leads the team with 77 K's on the year.
In the second game, Dayton prevailed, 3-2, despite managing just three hits off pitcher Carissa Segura (Santa Maria, CA/Ernest Righetti). Segura finished with seven strikeouts and two walks.
The Explorers will be back in action on Sunday, April 24th when they host Maryland Eastern Shore at Good Shepherd Field beginning at 2:00 P.M..
